Construction Services assists County Departments with all of their construction-related needs; from initial project conceptualization estimates to project completion. Construction Services' staff of architects, engineers, inspectors, designers and contract specialists are the qualified professionals that are needed to successfully complete your construction project.

The majority of Construction Services time is spent on Capital and Major Maintenance Projects. A Capital Project includes new construction, addition, or betterment of an existing asset where the project cost is greater than $10,000. A Major Maintenance Project involves maintenance or replacement of an existing asset where the project cost is greater than $10,000.

During these projects, Construction Services provides total project delivery services including:

The new Kern County Justice Facility is a Type II facility consisting of three buildings totaling 244,000 square feet and includes:

• Three medium security housing pods
• One special housing unit
• Support space including healthcare, custody, visitation, warehouse, and administrative areas
• A standalone 2,800-square-foot central plant that provides heating, cooling, and electrical services for the new facility
